COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Resources and Tools
In the wake of ever-changing information surrounding the COVID-19 Pandemic, we feel this is an imperative time to provide our Avergent Families with some Avergent advice:
Make a “house call”
Tele/Virtual health is the wave of the future and now’s a great opportunity to get comfortable with using this service! If you are feeling poorly, please first call or schedule a Tele/Virtual visit. Limiting interactions with your community IS doing YOUR part to lower the risk of disease spread.
Rain check & reschedule
Do you have a previously scheduled annual exam? Or does your child have an upcoming spring sport physical planned? Consider rescheduling non-emergent visits for a future date to lower the risk of infection spread. Do YOUR part to lower the risk of infection spread.
Properly assess an emergency
We need our healthcare system’s staff to be well and strong. During a Pandemic scenario, Emergency Departments must focus on true emergencies. Now more than ever, is a time to acknowledge and know WHEN to get emergent care. Decrease potential unnecessary risk by calling ahead and arm yourself with facts on what to do if you become ill by clicking here!
Act confidently in a true emergency
In 1986, Congress enacted the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA). EMTALA is a federal law that requires anyone coming to an emergency department to be stabilized and treated, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
During these turbulent times, it’s important to keep calm, know the facts, and squash any social stigma or disease falsehoods. See our Resource Toolbox
